George E. Johnson, 71, of Fargo, died Monday, January 17, 2005, in Villa Maria, Fargo. Visitation will be from 4-6:30 p.m. with a remembrance service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at Boulger Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, County Road 20, Detroit Lakes, MN. Burial will be in St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Moorhead, MN. George Johnson was born to Ed and Vera (Bethzold) Johnson on November 5, 1933, in Grand Rapids, MN. As a young boy, he moved to Moorhead, MN, where he attended schools. He graduated from Moorhead High School in 1951. His life was spent in trucking working for International Transport, Northwestern Supply Company, and Douglas/Central Dist. Company, from where he retired in 1990. George married Carol J. Tiernan on May 2, 1953. They raised their family in Moorhead before moving to the lake area, where they lived for 20 years. They returned to the Fargo-Moorhead area in 2000. He is survived by his wife, Carol of Fargo; four children, Edward (Susan) Johnson of Prior Lake, MN, Georgieann (Dave) Johnson-Hjermstad of Detroit Lakes, MN, Michelle (Dan) Currier of Fargo, and G. Bud (Julie) Johnson of Eagan, MN; and grandchildren, Katie and Cassie Johnson, Spencer and Jeremy Johnson, and Adam and Erica Currier. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. The family requests that no flowers be sent to the funeral home, church or home. Memorials can be sent to the Alzheimer?s Day Care Unit at Villa Maria Nursing Home.
