George Pendergrast

George ?Mike? Pendergrast, age 90, Edwards, Colorado, formerly of Fargo, died Friday, March 7, 2003 at Vail Valley Medical Center, Vail, Colorado. George was born February 12, 1913, in Bowman County, North Dakota, the son of Robert (Bert) and Minnie Pendergrast. He grew up and attended school in the Bowman/ Scranton area in North Dakota. He married Iva McFarland Benson, June 17, 1938 in Scranton, North Dakota. She died March 28, 1989. They lived in Sebeka, Minnesota for several years before moving to Fargo. George spent the majority of his adult life driving over the road semi tractor-trailers. In 1977, he was nominated for trucker of the year for North Dakota and received an award for driving over a million accident free miles. He retired in 1983 from Bertsch Trucking, Hillsboro, ND. August, 1989, he moved to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, and married Rosella Knutson. Due to poor health, in 2001, he moved to Edwards, Colorado, to live with his daughter, Cathlene. He is survived by two daughters, Patsy (LeMoine) Klose, Jamestown, ND; Cathlene (Edwin) Smith, Edwards, CO; and one son, Michael (Cindy) Pendergrast, Sunnyvale, CA; also, one sister Francis Kurtz, Milwaukee, WS, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, two brothers, one sister and a grandson.
