Gertrude Nelson

Gertrude P. Nelson, age 86, University Manor, Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo. Gertrude P. Gable was born May 2, 1919 on a farm east of Bismarck, ND where she lived until moving to Bismarck in the late 1920?s. She married Floyd Nelson in Hillsboro, ND in 1936. They lived in Grand Forks for a time, and moved to Fargo in 1950. She worked as a waitress most of her life, and was a custodian at First Lutheran Church until retiring in 1979. She has been a resident of University Manor for the past 17 years. Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband in 1994. She is survived by three daughters, Lois Shykes, Duluth, MN, Janet Giddings, Fargo, ND, and Lucille Thomas, Elk River, MN; her son, Ralph (Linda) Nelson, Columbia Heights, MN; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three sisters, Eleanor Speaks, Bismarck, ND, Alice Rorick, Bismarck, ND, and Marie Bolton, Kennewick, WA.
