Gladys P. Schmidt

Gladys P. Schmidt, age 88, died Wednesday, December 1, 2004 in Manorcare Health Services, Fargo, ND. Gladys Kyllo was born July 1, 1916 in Big Sandy, Montana. The family moved to Galesburg, ND when she was a young girl. She grew up in Galesburg where she attended Greenfield School. Gladys and Ernest O. Schmidt were married July 16, 1938 in Portland, ND. The couple lived in various communities, including Galesburg, ND Erie, ND, Page, ND and in 1956 moved to Fargo. She and her husband lost their first home in the 1957 tornado in Fargo. She worked as a babysitter in client=s homes. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986. Gladys lived at Pioneer Manor until September 2003 when she entered Manorcare. Gladys enjoyed crafts of all kinds and especially loved making Christmas ornaments. She was very active in her church. Gladys is survived by one son, Norman (Elda), Fridley, MN; three daughters, Barbara (Allen) Stensgard, Enderlin, ND, Judi (Ben) Green, Gardner, ND and Linda (Marvin) Walz, West Fargo, ND; 1 brother, Lester (Jenny) Kyllo, Laguna Woods, CA; 3 sisters, Erma Peterson, Hillsboro, ND, Lillian Berry, Seal Beach, CA, and Betty Jones, Long Beach, CA; 12 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and special friends, Gary and Janelle Orth who adopted Gladys as their grandmother.
