Glenn R. Hanson, 83, Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 in his home. Glennwood Raymond Hanson was born to Johanna and Ludwig Hanson at Chaseley, ND on May 31, 1923. He attended schools at Chaseley and Bowdon, ND and one year at NDSU, Fargo. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Bowdon. He served in the CCC?s and served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during the onset of the Iwo Jima invasion, and saw the flag go up on Iwo Jima. Glenn married Dorothy Subart in June 1949 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at Lake Williams, north of Steele, ND. They resided on a farm near Chaseley for 45 years. He was a 4-H leader for many years at Hurdsfield, ND, serving on township boards and church boards. Because of ill health, they spent 6 years in Harvey, ND and then moved to Fargo. He died peacefully at his home, in his beloved old recliner, surrounded by family and Hospice. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; his children, Wayne Hanson of Cedar Rapids, IA and Valerie Hanson, Fargo, ND; his granddaughters, Rondi of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Gerta of Des Moines, Iowa; 2 brothers, Lester (Rayburn) Hanson, Cararington, ND and Norman (Lucille) Hanson, Bismarck, ND; and a host of nieces and nephews.
