Gordon Fischer, 76, Fargo, ND, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Gordon was born on April 13, 1941 in Artas, SD, to George and Magdalena Fischer. He was the youngest of 11 children and they grew up mainly speaking German. Gordon attended grade school in Artas, SD. When he was 16 years old, he moved to Fargo, ND, with his parents and two of his brothers. There he met Arlyss Carlson and they were married on December 4, 1959 at Grace Lutheran Church. Together they had two children, Christine and Michael. They grew up going on camping trips, going to the lake, and visiting family that lived out of town. Sunday’s were spent going to church and making a big family dinner after. Thursday was pay day and we always went to Duane’s Pizza for supper. His famous knoephla soup was loved by all. Gordon worked at Steen and Berg, Allen’s Auto House, and Northwest Mazda. In 1977, Gordon opened Fischer Auto Body. He was very dedicated and proud of his business where he worked at with his son, Michael. Gordon married Pearl Markel on November 1, 1977. She had three children: Dan, Brenda, and Colleen. Pearl passed away November 21, 2001. Gordon was an avid Twins, Vikings, and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed going to Twins games, Friday night races at RRV Speedway, casinos, and spending time with family. If he wasn’t doing any of those things, he was always at his auto body shop—even when he was supposed to be retired. Gordon always knew someone everywhere he went. He was a man of few words, but always had something sarcastic to say and would help anyone if they needed it. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Gordon is survived by his daughter Christine (Richard) and their children, Rachael and Jordan Winter; son Michael (Laura) and their children, Stephanie and Jennifer Fischer; step-children Dan (Judy) and Brenda; and sister-in-law, Eva. Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, wife Pearl, and step daughter Colleen. The funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 7, 2017, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00am at Boulger Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Clara Cemetery near Comstock, MN. Memorials are preferred to Cat’s Cradle.
