Grace Gangnes, 92, Fargo, North Dakota, formerly of Argusville, North Dakota died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. The funeral will be held Monday, March 29, 2004 at 10:30 am at First Lutheran Church, Fargo. Grace Dahlen was born June 17, 1911 in Kindred, North Dakota to Oscar and Minnie (Blilie) Dahlen. She graduated from Kindred High School and Valley City Teacher?s College, Valley City, North Dakota. She taught at schools in rural Richland and Cass counties of North Dakota. On August 18, 1940 she married Gilbert Gangnes at Norman Lutheran Church, rural Kindred. They farmed near Prosper, North Dakota. In 1981 they moved to Fargo. Music was an important part of Grace?s life. She taught piano lessons, accompanied soloists, and organized many musical groups. She was a member of the Herby Lutheran Church, rural Argusville; she served as LCW President and was church organist for over fifty years. Grace was a member of the Prosper Homemakers and board member of the National Association for Family and Community Education. She organized and directed 4-H variety shows for the Prosper Livestock and Prosper Pixies. Grace served on the Board of the International Peace Garden and was a lifetime member. For forty years she served on the Red River Valley Fair Board, was a member of the Bonanza Belles, and served as coordinator for St. John?s Church activities during Pioneer Days at Bonanzaville. Grace served as director of the Farm Bureau Women?s Chorus. She sang with the Fargo Moorhead Area Music Club and has served as past president. Grace was the organist for the New Horizons Manor, Fargo. She became an associate member of the First Lutheran Church in Fargo on November 20, 2002. Grace is survived by her three sisters, Irene Haugen, Decorah, IA, Fran Dahlen, and Ardyce Grant, both of Fargo; sister-in-law, Katherine Dahlen, Kindred, and many nieces and nephews. Grace was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, George Dahlen and William Dahlen; and two sisters, Margie Merhiy and Doris Grindeland. Visitation: Sunday from 2 to 7 pm, with a prayer service at 7 pm, in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Funeral: Monday at 10:30 am in First Lutheran Church, Fargo. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
