Harold E. Farsdale, 87, Walcott, ND died May 24, 2009 at Villa Maria , Fargo, ND Harold Elsworth Farsdale was born to Alfred and Mabel (Rudlang) Farsdale August 16, 1921, at Michigan, ND. As a young child the family moved to his grandfather’s farm near Walcott, ND. Harold was baptized and confirmed in the Walcott Lutheran Church. He attended school at Walcott. Upon graduation he attended the ND State School of Science until the time he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served as a member of the U.S. Military Police and was stationed at Fort Snelling, St. Paul, MN and served until his discharge in 1946. He then was appointed Deputy Sheriff of Richland County until joining the ND State Highway Patrol in 1947 and was stationed in Lisbon, ND. On August 8, 1948 he married Gertrude Trangsrud at DeLamere, ND. In October 1950, Harold was transferred to Fargo and later named Commander of the Fargo district of the Highway Patrol. In 1969 he took an early retirement from the Patrol and entered government service with the Interstate Commerce Commission. He was later transferred into the US Dept of Transportation, named Accident Investigation Specialist and transferred to Denver, Colorado in 1970. Upon retirement in 1978, the Farsdale Family returned to Fargo and Harold started work as a bail bond agent. In 1982 he started his own business known as Farsdale Best Bonding, which he operated until 2002. Harold is survived by his wife Gertrude, two sons, Robert (Glory) of Jamestown, and Allan (Sue) of Walcott, two daughters Becky (Glen) Haley of Brownsville, TX and Charlotte (Donald) Burnworth of Prescott, Arizona, 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, a sister- in-law Cordy Farsdale and many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Wade and a sister Eleanor Johnsgard. The Funeral for Harold will be Wednesday, at 11:00am, May 27, 2009 at Walcott Lutheran Church, Walcott, ND with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo. There will be visitation Tuesday, May 26th from 5-7pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm at Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred, ND.
