Harold Wesley Iverson, 82, Fargo, ND went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 4, 2009 under the care of Hospice with his wife, Marge, by his side.
Harold was born to Fred and Martha Iverson on August 30, 1927 at the family farm in Hitterdal, MN. Harold attended Hitterdal elementary and high school and at the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served in World War II as a Merchant Marine. On November 9, 1972 Harold married Marjorie (Marge) Morse in Moorhead, MN. They made their home in West Fargo, ND, Glyndon, MN and Fargo, ND. Together they spent their time traveling the world including England, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and almost all 50 states. Harold started his life-long career with Robert Gibb and Sons where he worked as a plumber and a supervisor for 43 years. He held a journeyman and master plumbing license during his career. After retirement, he continued to provide consulting services as needed and was rewarded with a lifetime achievement award from Robert Gibb and Sons. He belonged to the Barber Shop quartet for many years and volunteered for the Salvation Army. He also began woodworking and made many cathedral clocks and other gifts for his children, relatives, and friends.
Harold has been a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for the past 19 years. He had a love for classical and opera music, golfing and fishing, spending time gardening, and he even baked a few pies. As an avid Norwegian, Harold loved his lutefisk and lefse. He was a wise, trusting, and kind man and everyone who knew him loved and respected him. He never judged anyone and he had a quiet way of showing his love and affection, but was always quick to add humor to any conversation. He gave of himself and left his children and grandchildren with many memories and taught them many life-long lessons and they will be proud to carry on his legacy forever. He will be missed very much.
