Harold Stokke

Harold Stokke Rural Grandin, North Dakota Harold Stokke, age 93, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Harold was born on November 23, 1910, the son of Knute and Rebekka (Hermanson) Stokke, near Noonan, North Dakota. He grew up in this area, attended school and began working on the family farm. Harold was united in marriage to Merle Ecker on September 17, 1939, at the Grandin Presbyterian Church. They made their home near Grandin where they farmed for many years. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Merle; his children, Allan (Cindy) Stokke of Newport Beach, California; Marlin Stokke of Grandin; Carole (David) Johnston of Fargo, North Dakota; and Beverly (Frank) Salomonsen of Rochester, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren, Tara Johnson, Allison Stokke, Eric Stokke, David Stokke, Brian Johnston, Jeffrey Henderson, Cameron Henderson, Kevin Johnston, Todd Henderson, and Matthew Stokke; and 6 great grandchildren. Harold is also survived by one sister, Berniece (Elwood) McVeety of Edina, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Grandin Presbyterian Church, Hospice of the RRV, or World Vision.
