Hazel A. McConnell Fargo, ND Hazel Ann McConnell died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, under the very capable, loving care of her daughter, Clarice, and Hospice of the Red River Valley. She was 93 years of age. Hazel Ann Greterman was born August 2, 1913 at Sibley, IA, the daughter of Albert and Marie (Kruse) Greterman. As a young girl, Hazel along with her parents and five siblings moved to a farm in Marion, ND where she was raised. Following her education in the Ypsilanti, ND one-room schoolhouse, Hazel moved to Fargo, ND where she worked as a waitress at a Fargo caf?. On February 8, 1937 Hazel and Charles Earl McConnell were united in marriage at St. Mary?s Cathedral, Fargo. Their key to this sixty-two year long loving marriage was based on their strong Catholic faith and the ?3 L?s?, which were love, listen and laughter. Throughout all those years, they remained active members of their church. Chuck died July 21, 1999. Hazel is survived by four daughters, Colleen Palmby, Savage, MN, Carol (Eugene) Bannerman, Alamo, TX, Connie (Melvin) Erlandsen, Belle Plaine, MN, and Clarice McConnell, Fargo; sister, Babe Tessmer, West Fargo, ND; ten grandchildren, Vera (Tom) Marquardt, Jerry (Roxie) Bannerman, Vince (Janylle) Palmby, Julie (Russ) Roberts, Janeal (Craig) Grosinger, Tyler (Kathy) Erlandsen, Jeryl Lynn (Wes) Stein, Tamara Muscha, Valerie (John) Gladitsch, and Trevor (Julie) Erlandsen; twenty-nine great grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and one step great great grandchild. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Helen Kassa and Hilda Fendrich; brothers, Harold and Howard Greterman; son-in-law, Robert Palmby; and grandson-in-law, Lt. Cmdr. William Muscha. Hazel?s visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2006 from 5-8 p.m. at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, ND, and Saturday, November 11, 2006 at St. Mary?s Cathedral one hour before the funeral mass. The rosary will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday. A funeral mass will be offered at St. Mary?s Cathedral on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
