Helen DeCrans

Helen DeCrans, 85, Fargo died Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo. Helen Eleanora Lukach was born on December 13, 1921 to John and Martha (Przbyszeski) Lukach in Noonan, ND. She graduated from Noonan High School and attended nursing school in Minot, ND. She was a registered nurse in Noonan and St. Joseph?s Hospital in Minot, ND. Helen was a member of the Army Nurse Cadet Corps. She married Alfonse DeCrans on October 2, 1945 in Noonan. They farmed together in Pembina, ND for 9 years before moving to New Rockford. In 1965 they moved to Park Rapids, MN where Helen worked at St. Joseph?s Hospital and did home health care. They moved to Fargo, ND in 2004. Helen was a life member of the American Legion, in addition to being a lifetime Auxiliary member of the DAV and the VFW. In January 1967 she attended the first Woman?s Cursillo in Fargo and she continued as a leader in the Cursillo movement. She was always an active member in the parishes where they lived. Helen was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and was adored by her husband, Al. She was known for her hugs and beautiful smile. She enjoyed baking, gardening and doing puzzles. She is survived by her husband, Alfonse; children, Sister Maura DeCrans, Fargo, ND, Father Joe DeCrans, Frazee, MN, Jack (Mayren) DeCrans, Fridley, MN, Robert (Mary) DeCrans, Nevis, MN, William DeCrans, Moorhead, MN, Jim (Marilyn) DeCrans Moorhead, MN, Tom DeCrans, Cottage Grove, MN, Dan (Michelle) DeCrans, Nevis, MN, Carol (Dave) Becker, Park Rapids, MN, Jeanne (Jeff) Garber, Billings, MT, Bernadette (Dan) Stephenson, St. Cloud, MN, Rose (Dana) Wolf, Bowman, ND, Teresa (Dave) Vaske, Marshfield, WI; 35 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; one brother, Steve (Katharine) Lukach, Minot, ND; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents; a grandchild, Helen Lauria DeCrans, daughter-in-law, Kathryn DeCrans, brothers, Frank, Joe, Father John, and Daniel Lukach; sisters, Susan Cannon, Margaret Sagaser, and Rose Wilhelm. Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Friday, St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN and Saturday in the church one hour before the funeral mass.
