Ret. Col. Howard V. Erickson, 86, passed from this world to meet his Lord and to rejoin his beloved wife, Annabelle on January 23, 2007 at his home, after a valiant battle with many health problems. He was born in Daniels County, Montana July 10, 1920. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, Fargo, ND in 1939. He married Annabelle Nanson April 5, 1941. Howard served in the Army during World War II and Korea. After arriving home, he continued his military service in the ND Army National Guard. He went to work for General Motors Parts Division and became a District Manager prior to his retirement. Howard has been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks, El Zagal Shrine, Cormorant Lions (past president) and American Legion. He was very active in the American Legion, rising through the ranks to become ND Department Commander and National Executive Committeeman. The VA Hospital benefited from his 30 years of volunteering with them. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and A. Gertrude (Conlon) Erickson; his wife, Annabelle; his brothers, William Erickson and Robert Erickson; and his sisters, Lois Fisher and Margaret Erickson. He is survived by his two daughters, Rita Erickson, Fargo, and Peggy Bender (Clarence), Bottineau, ND; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; brother, James Erickson (Camille); and his sister, Alice Novarra (Frank). Visitation: Friday, January 26, 2007 from 5-7 p.m at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo and Saturday at St. Mary?s Cathedral one hour prior to the funeral.
