Howard Wieber
November 22, 1927 ~ August 17, 2014
Howard “Howie” passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the Hillsboro Medical Center, under the care of Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.
Howard was born on November 22, 1927, the son of Adolph and Roxie (Little) Wieber in Albany, IN. At an early age he moved to Lidgerwood, ND with his family and graduated High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division and served from 1946 until his discharge in 1949. He returned to North Dakota and was united in marriage to Betty Juell on March 24, 1951. Eventually they made their home in West Fargo where they raised their family. For many years, one of Howie’s passions was bowling. Howie was the Lane Manager at the Bowler in Fargo for 26 years, retiring at age 60.
He was a member of the Fargo-Moorhead and North Dakota Bowling Hall of Fame as well as holding the prized honor of a perfect 300 game! Howie greatly enjoyed spending days at his lake cabin on Lake Maud sipping on a Schlitz, and on the golf course with the Red River Valley Senior Tour. Howie loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and many friends. Howie created a special bond with those lucky enough to spend time with him, and he will forever be missed. Behind his “tough guy” persona was a man with a gentle and kind heart that would always help when needed.
In 2005, Howie suffered a stroke and was cared for at Elim Care Center in Fargo until 2009 when he moved to Hillsboro Long Term Care Center. Even after Howie’s stoke he still cheered on his Vikings & Twins while snacking on his beloved cookies!
Howard is survived by his children – Howard “Butch” (Lyn) Wieber of Hillsboro, ND, Roxanne (Bill) Jahn of Lake Maud, MN; Scott Wieber of Fargo; and Mitchell Wieber of Denver, CO; his grandchildren – Heather (Mark) Morris, Heidi (Matt) Swanson, Holly (Toby) Schneider, Travis (Mindy) Wieber, Justin Wieber, Jacob Wieber, Haylee Swanson, and Hayden Swanson; and his great grandchildren – Brody, Devyn, Aurey, Emma, Ava, Espen, and Ruby; brother-in-law Ron (Maxine) Juell and sister-in-laws Laverne Harrison & Florence Wieber.
Howard joins in heaven his wife, Betty; his great granddaughter, Adley Schneider; his son-in-law, Craig Swanson & his parents; and his siblings – Louise Richardson, Bernice Fink, Lorena Wieber, and Kenneth Wieber & his brother-in-law John Harrison.

Living in the moment, enjoying one another and instilling treasured moments. That is what life is all about. Many years ago I was able to visit Ernie’s Uncle Howie. What a wonderful and delightful time we had. When I was their I gave him a little reddish-white stuff animal to represent his favorite doggie. He will be truly missed.

I knew your dad for years, and had the privilege of working for him for over 15 years. There was, and always will be, only one Howie Wieber. The bowling community in Fargo has lost one of “The greats”
