Ida Chrest, 96, Moorhead, Minnesota, passed away in Bismarck, ND on March 8, 2006. Ida Christianson was born to Ole and Inga Anderson Christianson on December 16, 1909 in Clayton Township, near Bowbells, North Dakota. She grew up on the family farm, attended school in Coteau, ND and graduated from Coteau High School. She then attended Augsburg College, Minneapolis, MN, Minot State College, Minot, ND, and graduated from Minnesota State University, Moorhead, MN. Ida Christianson married Jud A. Chrest in Clayton Township, North Dakota in 1931. They lived in Burke County before moving to Portal, ND where they operated a dairy farm. In 1950 they moved to Jamestown where they operated the Donette Cafe. They then lived in Mayville, ND before coming to Moorhead in 1956. Ida taught school in a number of towns in North Dakota before becoming a teacher in the Dilworth School District in 1956. She taught 3rd grade for 22 years, retiring in 1979. Her husband, Jud, preceded her in death in 1983. Ida loved to spend time at the lakes with her grandchildren. She also loved to spend the winter months with her family in the California. She is survived by her children, Eldon (Donya) Chrest, Lake Havasu, AZ; Lona (Jim) Nelson, Bismarck, ND; Lyle (Diane) Chrest, Riverside, CA; her 3 sisters, Twila (Earl) Monson, Seattle, WA; Dagmar (Harold) Anderson, Hawley, MN; Beverly (Wally) Gehrke, Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law, Lil Christianson, Mesa, AZ; 15 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; 5 brothers, 5 sisters; daughter, Zona Roesler; son Oaklan; 2 grandson, Darren Chrest and Tyler Roesler; 2 Great Grandchildren Allan Maras and baby Chrest. The funeral will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, Mn at 2:00 P.M. Monday; There will be a prayer service in the Boulger Chapel at 5:00 P.M. Sunday. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home and one hour before the funeral in the church. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. 3-11-06-02
