Irene Heck

Irene Heck, age 83, Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at MeritCare Hospital. Irene Gerdes was born to George and Lucille (Sauvageau) Gerdes on August 14, 1922 in Fargo, ND. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1940 and attended the Hannah Clay Clinic in Graceville, MN. Irene was the last graduate from this school. She received her degree as a Medical Technician in 1942. She worked as a med tech until she married Lawrence Heck on May 24, 1944 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo. Irene and Lawrence farmed in the Graceville, MN area until moving to Fargo in 1949. Lawrence died in 1986. She worked as a nurse?s aide at St. John?s Hospital for many years. She is survived by her children, Lawrence Heck (Mary) Brooklyn Center, MN, George Heck, Fargo, ND, Dan Heck, Moorhead, MN, Frances Schulte (Charles) Chaska, MN, Jo Ann Heck, Tulsa, OK, Kathleen Henjum (Wayne) Fargo, ND, Anthony Heck (Jill) Fergus Falls, MN, Ann Wroblewski (Tom) Kent, WA; 23 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren and a sister, Margarite Krause of Columbus, OH. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Marie Miller and brothers, Lloyd, Leon, Richard and Robert Gerdes.
