Irene R. Moe, age 97, Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, October 5, 2005 at Elim Home, Fargo.
Irene was born February 9, 1908 in Fingal, ND, daughter of Harry and Regina (Lareau) LaVoie. After she finished eighth grade, she helped on the family farm, and at a very young age began working in Valley City, ND. She then moved to Fargo and worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell. She married Harry Moe on July 3, 1928 in Oriska, ND. They lived in Enderlin and Grand Forks for a brief period. She worked as an operator for 20 years in Fargo and retired in 1965. Harry died in January of 1992. Irene was a resident of Elim Home for the past two months.
Irene volunteered many hours for the Veterans Hospital, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and was active in her church.
She is survived by her children: Harry L. (Sally) Moe, Lakeville, MN, Joy (Dr. Jerry O?Hearn), Fargo, ND, Donal (Sharon) Moe, Duluth, MN, Dale (Barbara) Moe, Corsicana, TX; 18 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Irving, and her sister, Florence Baasch.
The family wishes to thank Irene?s caregivers: Mary, Deb, Bette and Carol.
The family prefers memorials to Church of the Holy Spirit.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 10, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in Church of the Holy Spirit, Fargo.
