Irene Sayler, 90, passed away April 18, 2020, surrounded by family in Plymouth, MN.
Irene Bader was born to Henry and Katie Bader on May 20, 1929, in McIntosh County, ND. She grew up on a farm near Venturia and Ashley, ND, and attended a country school. Irene married Leonard Sayler in Venturia on October 7, 1948. They farmed near Venturia until 1963. The couple then moved to Ashley, West Fargo, then Fargo. In addition to being a homemaker, she provided day care in her Fargo home for 13 years.
She enjoyed dancing to polkas and waltzes, playing SkipBo with children, quilting and working with flowers.
She is survived by her children: DeLane (Arla) of Indianapolis, IN, Melvin (Peggy) of Covington, LA, Harley of Minneapolis, MN, Sandra (Larry) Taly of Avondale, AZ, Gerald (Rose) of Fargo, ND, Donald of Plymouth, MN, Larry (Pam) of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Brian of Richfield, MN; sisters, Gertrude Helfenstein, Spokane Valley, WA, and Marion (Larry) Schmitt, Olympia, WA; and fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Irene was preceded in death by husband, Leonard; parents, Henry and Katie Bader; and brother-in-law, Johnny Helfenstein.

Mom, you are already missed much! It is so very odd not having you with us. Each day I pray it is hard making the change when I pray for you. I’m so thankful you know Christ Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.

Irene was an amazing lady. She was like a second grandmother to me. I was one of her daycare children and have fond memories of playing at her house. I always remember her home made pizza; it was one of my favorites. Now that I have a little girl I wish I had an Irene for her. So sorry for the family’s loss. She was a major part of my life and that was only for a short time. I can’t imagine what the family is going through. Prayers that the memories help comfort you all during this time.
I have many memories of my Auntie Irene.
Summer vacation in North Dakota to visit family.
Her visits to Spokane.
My best memory was a trip to Olympia to my cousin Shellys wedding.
My son was only 2 at the time. Irene and Zachary and I in the backseat for a 5 hour drive.
That is my fondest memory. Being able to spend a few hours talking with her.
She was gentle and loving and kind.
She is home with our Lord and Savior.

Our first and only visit to Irene’s Fargo house year’s ago portrayed her attention to detail. As we entered the side door into the kitchen, it was apparent every appliance was immaculate. The cupboards and counters did not have a speck of dust or sign of stain. Her meticulous house keeping skills demonstrate her love for family and determination to be prepared for any family members or guests.
Irene’s thoughtful nature is admirable.
