Ivan "Bud" Cossette

Ivan “Bud” Cossette of Fargo, ND, passed away at Bethany Homes on June 1st 2018, at the age of 89.
Bud was born April 13, 1929 in Wild Rice, ND to Cecile and Julian Cossette, the 8th of nine children. He attended school in Wild Rice through the 8th grade after which he helped on the family farm. He was too gregarious to stay on the farm and found his calling owning service stations in Fargo-Moorhead for 50 years, prior to retirement. He loved chatting with his customers, but none as much as one beautiful young woman, Phyllis Hans.
Bud married Phyllis on May 18, 1957, and soon after built their home in Wild Rice, ND, where they raised their 8 children. Bud loved meeting people, fishing, hunting, skiing, traveling, spending time at Big Pine Lake and in their motorhome. He was also a life member St. Benedict’s Church where he enjoyed singing with the choir and acting as a Eucharistic Minister.
Bud was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Cossette, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his children; Paul (Suzanne), Julie (Alex), Gary, Diane (Aaron), Jim (Kristin), Mike, Tom (Jill), and David, and grandchildren Josh Skyberg, Justin Skyberg, John, Grayce Darrah, Mark, Cody, Taylor, Brayden, and great grandchild Grace Orlich.
Bud’s wry smile, twinkling eyes, and gentle teasing will be greatly missed.
There will be a visitation from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service following at 7:00 PM on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo. The funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 11, 2018 at St. Benedict Church of Wild Rice, Horace with a visitation one hour prior.

To Gary, Tom, Dave and all the family of Bud Cossette, we want to extend to you our sympathy. Bud was a wonderful man my family and I got to know over many years while being customers at his Service Station in south Moorhead. Bud was very knowledgeable, a fair and kind man that went out of his way to serve, and was a joy to visit with. Bud always had a twinkle in his eye, and with a smile would be ready to tell a story or two. Bud leaves a great legacy through his family he spoke very highly of, and through living the example of the gentleman he was. Bud will be greatly missed.

I am truly sorry for your loss, please accept my sincere condolences. I hope the Cossette family find comfort and strength in Jesus promise along with our heavenly father Jehovah of the earthly resurrection, where death will be eliminated forever. Truly, what a glorious and almost unbelievable day that will be! It’s a reality though for God cannot lie!

We send our sympathy to all of the Cossette Family at this time of sorrow. Bud will surely be missed in this world. He had a wonderful outlook on life and one always felt upbeat after a visit with Bud. Gordon and I got to know Bud and Phyllis when we all owned Standard Oil/Amoco service stations. We enjoyed many fun filled vacations with them. They were both good, caring, and witty people – we loved our time with them. Its comforting to know they are together again.
