ivonne olson
Ivonne Marie (Borreson) Olson was born February 18, 1935 in Fargo, ND to Henry and Betty (Overboe) Borreson. She was baptized and confirmed at Christiania Lutheran Church in rural Kindred. Ivonne attended school in Kindred and graduated in 1953 before going on to attend Concordia College in Moorhead, MN for two years. She was employed at the Fargo Clinic until marrying Marlan Olson on November 17, 1956. They lived and farmed in the Kindred area until they retired in 1997, moving first into the city of Kindred and then into the Fargo/West Fargo area, where they have made their home since 2011. They have two children, a daughter, Jamie and a son, Jay. Ivonne and Marlan were members of Gol Lutheran Church until it closed in 2002. Ivonne served on the church council, in WELCA, taught Sunday School and Bible School, and was an accompanist and church organist for many years. She and Marlan joined Kindred Lutheran in 2002 where she continued to be involved in choir, as a substitute organist, and in other church activities. Music was an important part of Ivonne’s entire life, playing piano and organ, singing in choirs as well as singing solos for various occasions. She was also a charter member of the Town and Country Homemakers, a group that stayed together for over 55 years. Over the years, Ivonne and Marlan enjoyed the many musical/stage events that their children and grandchildren participated in. They also enjoyed traveling around the U.S., through Europe, Norway, and El Salvador. Their family enjoyed camping, spending time at their lake home, and loved playing cards with family and friends. Ivonne was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, brother-in-law Roger Lokken, and nephew Dean Lokken.
