Jack W. Burd, age 48, of Franklin, TN - formerly of Hillsboro, ND – died on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at his home. Jack was born on May 2, 1968 in Grand Forks, ND and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1986. Jack was fiercely loyal to his friends and family. He loved deeply and never lost his sense of wonder in this world. But behind this exterior was an emotional struggle that few could comprehend. Jack is survived by his mother, Twila and step father, Peter Lovas of Hillsboro; his son, Derek Burd of Starbuck, MN; his brothers, Chad (Melissa) Burd of Coeur d’ Alene, ID; and Wade (Trish) Burd – nephew, Jake Burd, all of St. Petersburg, FL; and a special friend and someone who loved him very much, Ally Bracy of Franklin, TN. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Burd; his grandparents and uncles. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be given in Jack’s memory in c/o Wildeman-Boulger Funeral Home – PO BOX 216 Hillsboro, ND 58045. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM Friday, October 14, 2016 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.

  6. Jack was a tremendous man with such enthusiasm for the “paths” he would choose to pursue. He was so very proud of his son Derek and bragged about him often when our paths crossed. Jack helped me out more than once personally when I would need a place to stay.
    What a giving person with such a great set of brothers and mother!
    He will be missed!

  15. I met Jack in the late 90’s at the Sports Center. Jack was a staple at the gym and was always ready with a genuine smile and greeting. Our most sincere sympathy to Jack’s family and friends during this difficult time.

  25. Todd and I were so very sorry to hear about Jack. We talked about all that we remembered, how he called Todd “Ted” and Todd called him “Jed”. I remember his laugh and Todd remembered how really was one of the good guys! We have not seen or been in touch for many years since we moved from the area but this does not make his loss any less hurtful. We pray that he is at peace and as someone said earlier, heaven has gained an angel.

  26. So sorry to hear about Jack. My brother Doug was good friends with Chad, his brother and my parents were friends with his parents. I always enjoyed going out to the farm with my parents when Bruce was alive and playing with all of the guys. May he rest in peace. Twila you raised some great boys!!!!!! Baby sitting for Jack was always an entertaining time; so action packed and inquisitive; such a cute kid, and as I see here, grew into a great guy. My condolences, and so sorry he had struggles.
