James Thomas Devine, 75, Fargo, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 in his home. James Devine was born December 27, 1931 in Niagara, ND, the son of Thomas A. and Florence M. (Burkett) Devine. He grew up in Lakota, ND and graduated from Lakota High School in 1949. After graduation from high school, he began working for Great Northern Railroad. He was drafted into the U. S. Army and served during the Korean War from June 19, 1952 ? June 18, 1954. After his discharge, he attended North Dakota Agricultural College in Fargo for 3 years and worked for Great Northern during the summer months. He then worked for Great Northern Railroad, later Burlington Northern, in the signal department for 43 years, retiring in 1993 He married Marjorie Ann Wick July 6, 1957 at St. Stephen?s Catholic Church in Larimore, ND. The couple worked in Minneapolis, MN for a short time. They then lived in, Minot, ND, Hannaford, ND, and Argusville, ND. The couple lived at Fish Lake near Pelican Lake, MN from 1980-1999 when they moved to The Waterford, Fargo. Jim was actively involved in several organizations, including the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen, American Legion, Elks, and the Moose Lodge. He embraced his Irish heritage passing along his enthusiasm to his family. Jim could often be found with a cup of coffee in his hand and a game of Solitaire in progress. Some of his favorite moments were spent at the lake listening to the Loons, giving tractor and pontoon rides to grandchildren, and presiding over the grill. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; 6 children, SuAnne (Jeff) Drawz, Minot, ND, William (Lynn), Plymouth, MN, Kathy (Greg) Stompro, Fargo, ND, Thomas (Karen) Eau Claire, WI, Mary Ellen (Edward) Meyer, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, and Patricia (Brian) Carlson, Fargo; 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Fox and Marie Reilly, and one brother, Terence Devine. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. ? Wednesday, May 9, 2007 ? Boulger Funeral Home Prayer Service: 7 p.m. ?
