James (Jim) Neavill, age 81 of Fargo, ND, died July 14, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born January 30, 1935 in Hastings, NE to Martha Esther Hastie and John T. Neavill and raised in Denver, CO. After graduating Cathedral High School he joined the US Navy Reserve serving two years active duty. He attended Regis College in Denver in 1956, later receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Denver in 1959. That same year he married his beautiful wife Barbara L Magnussen and moved to Albuquerque, NM where they began a very blessed family with four daughters.
Jim began a career with Caterpillar, moving to Sioux Falls, SD in 1964 and then to Fargo, ND in 1978 where he worked for Butler Machinery until his retirement in 1997. He worked in the construction machinery business for 39 years. Since retirement Jim and Barb spent their winters in Chandler, AZ where he played tennis, golf and enjoyed the fact that he didn’t need to shovel snow. He treasured his life-long friendships, fishing trips, time with family and his faith in God.
Jim will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; his sister Virginia (Jeannie) Horvat of Broomfield, CO; daughters Lori (Brian) Sexe, Patricia Neavill, Janine Neavill all in Sioux Falls and Michelle (Jim) Lundstrom in Fargo, five grandsons and three granddaughters, two great-granddaughters, numerous nieces and nephews and their children throughout the US.
Jim was lovingly welcomed into eternity by his parents Martha and John, brother Jack, sisters; Patricia Rethmeier, Mary Sands, Kathryn Reddick and Frances Rovlenchik.
There will be a memorial service at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with a visitation one hour prior.
