Janet Foster

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Janet Marie (Dunavold) Foster announces her passing on January 16th, 2022, at the age of 74 (but not looking a day over 54) in Fargo, ND. Jan was surrounded in love with family members at her side. Jan was born in Fargo, ND, on February 10th, 1947, to parents Gordon Dunavold and Lorraine (Cullen) Dunavold. She worked as a typesetter and graphic designer. In her free time, you could catch her playing with Photoshop, playing computer games, shopping online, or visiting with her family, whom she absolutely adored. She married Dana Foster on December 11th, 1967, at First Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. After living in Turkey and Finland for several years, they returned to the states and eventually settled permanently in Fargo. They are now dancing together in Heaven, which brings great comfort to her family. Jan was considered the “queen” of the family. She kept everyone in check when necessary, and her loved ones will remember her always being readily available when she was needed. Family came first to Jan, and her apartment walls were covered with photos of everyone! Her faith as a Christian was also very strong. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but her love and memory stay close to us. She is survived by her children Brian (Chrysi) Foster, Eagle Rock, MO; Shane (Nancy) Foster, Fargo, ND; Wanda Boomgaarden, Wahpeton, ND; and her grandchildren Cody Foster, Fargo, ND; Sara Boomgaarden, Las Vegas, NV; Ryan Boomgaarden, Jamestown, ND; Kara (Reid) Foster, Fayetteville, AR; her sisters Kathy (Curt) Berg; Judy Stave; and Penny Seidel; several aunts and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dana; her brother, Tom Dunavold; her brother-in-laws Bruce Stave and Gene Seidel, and her infant granddaughter, Maia Brianna Foster. A family Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.
