Janice Dollinger, age 76, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Vibra Hospital, Fargo, ND. Janice was born September 4, 1939 in Hankinson, ND to Harry and Priscilla (Wilm) Medenwald. In 1957, she graduated from St. Francis Academy in Hankinson. Jan briefly worked in St. Paul, MN after high school. She moved to Moorhead, MN and married Ellsworth “Ed” Dollinger on September 7, 1963 at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Hankinson. In 1966 they moved to Fargo where she worked over 45 years as the school librarian at Nativity Catholic School. She couldn’t leave the house without running into a former student. Ed and Jan helped to start Minn-Kota Racing Association in West Fargo, ND and they also co-owned Buffalo River Speedway with some partners. Jan enjoyed bowling, rummage sales, playing cards, reading books, and above all else, her grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Mark (Linda) Dollinger, Minneapolis, MN, Teresa Dollinger, West Fargo; daughter-in-law, Laura Dollinger, Fargo; grandchildren, David Dollinger, Minneapolis, MN, Kayleigh Dollinger, Minneapolis; Erica Dollinger, Fargo; siblings: Linda O’Meara, Mankato, MN; and Glen Medenwald, Lake Crystal, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed; her son, Scott; and her nieces: Jennifer O’Meara Anderson and Jamie Brossart. FUNERAL SERVICE: 9:30am Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Nativity Catholic Church, Fargo VISITATION: 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a 7:00 Prayer Service Friday, August 5, 2016 at Boulger Funeral Home INTERMENT: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND

  2. Jan was a wonderful friend and neighbor for many years. Many fond memories raising our families on 11th Street. She will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers with the family at this difficult time.

What a beautiful, meticulous lady,,,I am a nurse who had the privilege of getting to know Jan in the 90’s….it took awhile for us to build up her trust, but then we developed a beautiful friendship when she came for her weekly visits. I have a beautiful Christmas ornament that I will continue to put on our tree each year. I can just see it now…nurse,Mike Mullaney meeting her at heaven’s gates with a great big hug and welcome!! I only wish I had known she was at Vibra. peace and sincere sympathy to her family!!

Janice was my cousin….havent seen that side of the family for years but still sad to hear she passed…been remembering the time we spent on the farm in Hankinson many many years ago with fond memories…she spent time with our family in So St Paul Mn when we were little kids….condolences to the family from all of us…Joyce (Wilm) Walker

  8. My children attended Nativity School for many years, and I was there a lot, bringing the kids to school, checking on them and volunteering. Whenever I saw Mrs. Dollinger she always had a smile on her face and was so helpful in trying to suggest books my children might like read. I always loved running into her as she was so very friendly, and I will always remember that smile. I am sorry for your loss as she was a marvelous, caring person, and I am sure that Nativity School has missed her!
