Janis Dawley, 77, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Munich, ND, passed peacefully in her daughter’s home on August 2, 2015 surrounded by family, embraced by love.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Tom, for nearly 21 years, and their two infant children Laurie Ann and Mary Jan; along with her parents Leo and Clara Goeser; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Omer Tholkes; and brother, Denis Goeser.
She is survived by her 3 children: Delbert (Cassandra McCullough) of Shakopee, MN; Kathryn (Paul) Appold of Burnsville, MN; and Theresa of Richfield, MN. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ian and Hannah Appold and Rebecca, Thomas and Sarah Dawley. Additionally, she is survived by 2 sisters, Bonnie (Gilmore) Braaten of Devils Lake, ND and Phyllis (Jim) Allen of Audubon, MN; sister-in-law Margaret Ann Goeser of St.James, MN; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Janis was born on her parent’s farm in Calio, ND, on September 11, 1937. After attending St. Mary’s High School in Devils Lake, she took note of her future husband at her sister’s wedding. She fell in love and, after a brief three-month courtship, married Tom Dawley of Munich, ND, on November 28, 1959.
Hard work ethics, strong family attachments and deeply rooted faith guided Janis during her entire life. Her faith grew throughout her marriage to Tom. This faith led her to donate time to a wide variety of organizations, including churches, schools and hospitals. All of which were enlivened by her witty humor and chic sense of style.
Her faith guided her through difficult times and helped her to complete her life with a grace that will remain a strong example to her family. We will cherish and love her always.
