Obituary

The family of Jason “Boomer” Allison would like to thank everyone for their kindness and generosity during Jason’s battle with ALS and after his passing. We are so appreciative of the support we have received and have been blessed with loving family, friends and communities, both past and present. May God bless you in return.

Jason Bruce (Boomer) Allison of Kindred, ND, died on May 1, 2017, after a three-year struggle with ALS. Jason died in his home with his wife and mother by his side. He was 44 years old.

Jason was born on May 23, 1972, in WaKeeney, Kansas, to Leslie and Linda Allison. The family moved when he was two to a home near Florence, Kansas that had once belonged to his great-great grandfather. Jason loved to play in the yards and explore the woods with his brother and friends. Swimming in the creek brought many hours of fun as well. Having attended Marion-Florence schools from Kindergarten to twelfth grade, Jason graduated from Marion High School with the class of 1990. He then attended Fort Hays State College in Hays, KS for three semesters. He worked with a road construction crew for a couple of years before he came to North Dakota to visit a friend. He loved the country and decided if he could find a job, he would stay. The Bobcat Company of Gwinner was hiring and he soon had a job. He worked there until the ALS made him too weak to work. While working at Bobcat, he met a girl who would become the “love of his life”. He married Angela Kay Holmstrom on July 5, 2003. They made their home in Kindred where home was graced with two beautiful boys, Grant and Luke.

Jason joined the United Methodist Church in his youth, but after his marriage, he attended St. Maurice’s Catholic Church with his wife and sons where he was always happy to help out. He was an avid member and supporter of USW 560, holding many leadership positions and always working to better the employment conditions of his fellow workers.

Jason is survived by his wife, Angie, and his sons, Grant and Luke. He is also survived by his parents, Leslie and Linda Allison, brother Lane (Lory) Allison and daughters Bethany and Sydney, sister Raquel Riggs and children Starla (Josh) Gesaman, Merissa (Greg) Bowman, Erika (Brandon) Smalley, and Les Riggs, and sister VanDee (Patrick) Miller and children Sophia and Bruce. He will also be missed by many other nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by father-in-law William Holmstrom, brother-in-law Richard Riggs, and nephew Calvin Riggs.

Memorials: Grant and Luke Allison fund for education at Elm River Credit Union, Kindred, ND 58051.

A beautifully written obituary, and Boomer lived an absolutely beautiful life. I never, in 20 years of friendship, heard him speak in anger or disrespect. I wish I could be half the man Boomer was. Always a caring, loving man. I could have never faced ALS with the courage that he did. Thank you so much Boomer for letting me be a part of your life. I love you and will miss you forever!!!!!!!
