Jeanette Longtine

jeanette longtine
Jeanette Ida Longtine, 83, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on April 20, 2020. Jeanette was born March 31, 1937 to Margaret (Spink) and Lawrence Steidl in Valley City, ND. As the middle child of three sisters, she grew up in Oriska, ND, Detroit Lakes, MN and Audubon, MN. In 1954 she graduated as Valedictorian from Audubon HS and later that year married Richard Longtine of rural Audubon. Richard’s work in construction took the Longtine family to many cities on the East and West coasts and the Midwest. Jeanette adapted to the many moves with vigor and wherever they lived she made a loving home, but the Pacific Northwest and Audubon, MN were the places they called home. Loving the the ocean, Jeanette enjoyed beach combing and just watching the tide. She enjoyed gardening and preserving all that she grew, continuing her efforts throughout her lifetime. She was very involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s, schools, activities and events. If there was an athletic, dancing, art, drama or singing event, she proudly attended and cheered. Baking was a special love, with Christmas baking taking up a significant portion of the year. She loved fresh flowers, especially yellow roses, and was very generous to the charities she supported. Having had many pets over the years, her most beloved, were her Kerry Blue Terriers, Paddy and Tucum. Family was her top priority and she was a proud member of three separate five generation reunions. After the death of Richard in 1978, Jeanette continued to raise her children while working outside the home. She was the owner of Pandora’s, a woman’s clothing store in Lisbon, ND, and worked until retirement in jewelry sales in Fargo. She also served in the priesthood of Community of Christ Church in Fargo. She loved travel and dreamed of visiting Ireland and England, which she did two times in her later years. Jeanette will be missed by her children Shelley (Mark) Smith, Lawrence, LaRayne (Mark Vollmers); grandchildren Nickie Bartelson, Joshua (Jen) Smith, Eric Smith; great grandchildren Amanda (Derek) Christianson, Dallas (Jordan Holmer) Bartelson, Quinn Vollmers, Aiden Vollmers, Mathias Smith, Sterling Smith; great great grandchildren Gavin, Ava, Jett and Farah; and her sisters MaryAnn (Harold) Mesker and Angela Dolman. She is preceded in death by her son, Terry; husband, Richard; and her parents, Margaret and Lawrence. Memories and condolences may be shared at Boulgerfuneralhome.com.
