Jerry Allen Keogh, 77, Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Elim Care Center, Fargo.  He was born on November 12, 1936 to Marcell and Frances (Zwack) Keogh in Fargo, ND.  Jerry grew up in Moorhead, MN where he graduated from Moorhead High School in 1955.  Following graduation he attended Moorhead State where he played football and wrestled.

On October 1, 1960 Jerry was united in marriage to Vera Jean Tomashek in Eau Claire, WI.  The couple made their home and raised their children in the Fargo-Moorhead community.  Jerry and Vera purchased a tavern they named “Jerry’s Bar” shortly after they were married.  The couple owned and operated the business together for over 50 years.

Jerry was an active entrepreneur and visionary businessman in the Fargo-Moorhead area, involved in many companies such as FM Paper Salvage and K & B Construction.

Jerry loved politics and greatly enjoyed helping with the campaigns of local politicians.

His biggest passion, however, was his family.  He adored his grandsons and lived for the time he spent with them.  Some of Jerry’s greatest times were spent watching them play football and basketball.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vera; his children, Michele (Rick Wiskur) Keogh; Sherry Keogh; Mary (Ed) Kava; sister, Marlene Perez; grandsons, Jacob and Joseph Kava; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and nieces, Annette Lamers and Susan Perez.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Sanford Palliative Care and Elim Care Center for the excellent care they provided.
