Obituary

Jerry Arthur Miller, 90, passed away on August 28th, 2020, while on Hospice care at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. Jerry was born on August 24th, 1930 in Calvin, ND the only child of Percy and Olive (Martin) Miller. Jerry graduated as the valedictorian of Calvin High School and later attended The University of North Dakota for Engineering.

Jerry worked as a teacher for one year as he completed his engineering degree then worked for the Corps of Engineers after graduating. Jerry spent time working for the C.O.E. in ND and CO before moving on to a career at Cap Homes, where he won many awards for sales including multiple trips, he took with his wife Annie.

Jerry married Anna (Annie) Zeis in 1956 and they continued to travel for Jerry’s career with Cap Homes before he branched out to start his own real estate and construction company, Miller R & C while making their home in the Fargo Moorhead area. Jerry and Annie had three children, Jerry Jr., Julie and Jane.

After many years helping other’s build their dream homes with Miller R & C, Jerry and Annie settled in Harwood, ND after purchasing the Harwood Hideout. Jerry and Annie loved to host bands and weddings at the Hideout and made lifelong friends within the Harwood community.
Jerry enjoyed playing pinochle and had a love of great food and wine that inspired his youngest daughter’s career as a chef. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to pull pranks on his family and friends. Jerry was also a dog lover and has many wonderful pets that he is finally reunited with.

He is survived by his daughters Julie Miller, and Jane (Jim) Dura, his grandchildren; Courtney Miller, Zachary (Stacy) Miller, Tara (JJ) Teal, Jesse (Abbi) Smith, Matt Smith, Marie (Scott) Buchli and Adam Miller; and ten great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his lovely wife Annie, his beloved son Jerry Jr. “Butch”, his parents Percy and Olive and his great grandson Kullen.

There is a private family service being held in Jerry’s memory.

    Jerry was such a friendly man. I’m sure Butch welcomed his Dad with open arms. God Bless Jane, Julie and Family. RIP Jerry. I ll have a glass of wine in your honor.
