John Becker, 79,  Fargo, passed away at Sanford Health on January 14, 2011.

John Becker was born to Joseph Becker and Marie Hamkens on August 11, 1931 in Bismarck, North Dakota. He grew up in Bismarck and attended schools in Bismarck. John  joined Bell Telephone in 1948 in Bismarck and transferred to Fargo in 1967. John Becker and Mary Jean Eisenrich were married on December 27, 1969 in Fargo at Holy Spirit Church. John Worked for Bell Telephone for 40 years, retiring in the late 80s.

John was an avid hunter, hunting in both North Dakota and South Dakota. He enjoyed working in the yard and being with friends.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Jean, at home; his brother, Joseph (Mary) Becker, Bismarck, ND, his sister, Donna Short, Blythe, CA, and his brother, Richard (Ruth) Becker, Blythe, CA; many nephews and nieces.

    I was so sorry to learn that Uncle John had passed away.

    I didn’t get to know him much as he moved to Fargo about the time I moved to Bismarck. I do member that my mom, John’s sister Rita, liked him as they grew up.

    I remember all the laughter when Uncle John was around. He came to my graudation, and several family gatherings.
    I remember the time we went to your cabin with my family, Donna, and Aunt Theresa oh what a great time that was.

    You are going to be remembered always by a smile and laughter…

    I worked in the same garage as John did. He was on construction an I on the Cable Maint. crew. I remember John as being very good at what he did. Myself and others here at CWA will miss John. John was a life long strong Union member.

    It has been many, many years since I have seen John. I am his cousin. His mother, Marie and my dad, Ben were sister and brother. We lived on a farm North of Jamestown. And unfortunately we did not see each other.
    I will remember John at Mass . My Sympathies go to his Family.

  7. I first met John when I started with NWB in 1970. I was a splicer apprentice assigned to John. I learned many things from him and had a great deal of respect for him. Rest in peace John. I waxwon’t forget you.
