DR. JOHN G. EATON John G. Eaton, M.D., 58, Fargo, died Saturday after a heart attack at his family?s lake cabin. Dr. Eaton was born on Sept. 30, 1945 in Carrington, N.D. He grew up in nearby Sykeston, N.D. where he attended school. He enrolled in seminary at Our Lady of the Ozarks in Carthage, Mo. for two years before transferring to NDSU. After two years in Fargo, he enlisted in the army and trained as a medic and later as an LPN. On Nov. 16, 1968 he married Judy Wilk in Fargo. He later served one year in Vietnam. He returned to Fargo, worked part-time as a nurse at St. John?s Hospital, and earned his B.S. at NDSU with honors in 1972. He went on to medical school at UND and completed his internal medicine residency in Fargo. After several years of private practice in north Moorhead, he joined Meritcare Clinic in 1984. At the time of his death, he also served as Medical Director of Moorhead Health Care, President of the Board of F-M Birthright, and was an active member of the Moorhead Rotary Club and Holy Spirit parish. He is survived by his wife Judy; three sons, Michael (Paul VanCura), Vadnais Hts., Minn., Matthew, Fargo, and Mark, Fargo; one daughter, Michelle, Milwaukee, Wisc.; one brother, James, Moorhead; and five sisters, Mabel Shaack, Woodburn, Ore., Eleanor (Bernard) Ohnstad, Argusville, N.D., Ruth Phalen, Grand Forks, N.D., Laura (Roland) Friezen, Cathay, N.D., and Ann (Phil) Curtin, New Richmond, Wisc. He is preceded in death by an infant daughter Nicole; his parents, Elmer and Frances; and two siblings, Frances Richter and William.
