John Sornsin

John “Jack” Sornsin, 85, passed away peacefully May 21, 2018 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND. John was born March 21, 1933 to Michael and Laura (Carrier) Sornsin. He was a veteran of the Korean War. John married the love of his life, Barbara Hammerud, February 2, 1957 in Fargo, ND. He was a graduate of the University of North Dakota. He worked over 50 years as an insurance adjuster, owning Tri State Adjustment for 20 of those years. John was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Fargo American Legion. John and his 7 brothers were members of the Fargo Elks Lodge at the same time for 64 years. John is survived by his daughters, Catherine Matzke, Michelle Ackman; sons, Bradley (Connie) Sornsin, Patrick (Susan) Sornsin; sister in law, Marilyn Olson; grandchildren, Tom (Erin) Matzke Jr., Jeremy Matzke, Sarah (Chastity Grant) Matzke, Chris (Lineva) Matzke, Jeremy (Lindsay) Borosko, Josh Matzke, Jordan Sornsin, Madison Sornsin, Joe Sornsin, Jessica Sornsin, and Nick Sornsin; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; son, John Sornsin; parents; sister, Marge; and brothers, Kenneth, Michael, Roland, Richard, Thomas, Earl, and William. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Shanley High School or The Alzheimer’s Association.
