Obituary

Joseph R. Cossette (Joe), 71, Fargo, ND passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Villa Maria Nursing Home. Joe was born on January 6, 1948 in Horace, ND to Priscilla Bernadette (LaPointe) and Joseph Raymond Cossette. He attended school at St. Benedict’s in Wild Rice, ND and St. Mary’s in Fargo.

In 1958, Joe moved to North Fargo with his Mother and siblings. He was a kind and loving son, brother and uncle whose first love was spending time with his family. Playing cards, having Sunday dinner after church, and going to the lakes. Joe was a devout Catholic whose faith was strong throughout his life. He was an active member of Nativity Catholic Church in Fargo and relied on his faith during the most challenging times in life. Joe’s hobbies included riding bike, curating and listening to country music, fishing, watching HGTV, monitoring the news, and bowling. Throughout his life, he loved to learn about cars. He knew every detail about the classic cars and modern day muscle cars. In particular, he loved the black, Camaro Zl1.

Joe worked for the Elks in Fargo as a busboy and dishwasher for a number of years. He also worked at Don’s car wash. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Upon passing of his beloved Mother, Priscilla (2006), and brother, Reynold (2011), Joe lived with his Brother Orel and sister-in-law Gail. He loved fishing with Orel, participating in family events, watching his grand-nephew (Brandon Quibell) run cross-country, and attending his grand-niece’s (Kendra Bachmann) volleyball games. The Quibell family was special to him, in particular his love for Matt and Cindy and his friendship with Wayne.

He is survived by his sister, Isabelle Sturm, Woodbury, MN and a group of Nieces and Nephews that he loved dearly: Michelle Borgen (Jay), Dean Cossette (Andrea), Darren Cossette (Amy), Donn Cossette, Jamie Cossette (Jena), Julie Dutt (Paul), Dan Mortensen (Arlene), Raymond Mortensen, Julie Dutt (Paul), Lisa Miller, Rochelle Myers (Colin), and Cindy Quibell (Matt).

Uncle Joe – You were an angel on earth. A gentle and kind soul who never let life get you down. While you’ll be missed, I know that you’ve been reunited with grandma and the father you never knew. You’re now at peace and without pain. I will remember and love you always.

Our Sympathies to Jo’s family. He certainly will be missed. He was full of love and life!
We got to know and spend time with him when we visited Orel and Gail. Jo and Fred hit it off right away. Jo loved the slipper socks Fred gave him. In fact ….Orel and Gail could hardly get them off of him to wash.
Fred enjoyed teaching him to do fun things on his computer.
May all the memories be a comfort to you in the days ahead. While Jo is catching up with so many Angels and sharing up to date messages with them. ❤️ Old Friends, FRED & JUDY
