Obituary

Josh D. Nelson, 38, Fargo passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Sanford Health, Fargo due to natural causes.

Josh was born November 25, 1979 in Fargo, North Dakota to Brian and Terri (Twete) Nelson at Dakota Hospital, Fargo. He graduated from Fargo South High School in 1998. He attended NDSU before graduating from MSUM with a degree in Business Administration.

Starting in High School all the way through College, he was a sales associate at the Outdoorsman which gave him the experience to start his sales career in the medical field.
The light of Josh’s life was his son Caden. He was so proud of all his achievements making him his biggest fan and best friend.

He loved going pheasant and deer hunting with friends in Western North Dakota and was “bummed” that he didn’t get what would turn out to be his final deer tag. He enjoyed tailgating with friends and attending NDSU Bison Football games. He grew up loving lake country in Minnesota, especially Crystal and Lida Lake.

He will be missed dearly by his son; Caden Nelson, Fargo, ND, mother; Terri (Randy) Gilbertson, Fargo, ND; brother, Jake Nelson, Fargo, ND; grandmother, Virginia Twete, Fargo, ND; aunts, Jodi Twete, Fargo, ND, Loree (Dale) Weber, Pelican Rapids, MN, Edie (Jerome) Mielke, Blaine, MN; uncle, Bob (Cheryl) Twete, Portland, OR and all his wonderful cousins, classmates, friends and fellow sales associates.

He was preceded in death by his father, Brian Nelson, grandfather, Dave Twete, Nelson grandparents, Ralph and Marilyn and first cousin, Lance Weber.

I am sorry to hear about josh’s passing. There are so many stories growing up when we both loved nearby their house on 39 1/2 and then 40th Avenue. I remember fighting the 97’ flood with the Nelsons, playing ditch late at night as Rosewood was getting developed, and seeing Josh on the riding lawnmower taking care of the nearby lawns and boulevard. Even while fighting a flood, the Nelsons made it fun to be there helping protect homes and property. He was a genuinely warm and kind person that will be greatly missed.

I’m so saddened to hear of Josh’s passing. Josh and I first met when we were in college and quickly became friends as we are both very social people. We would often partake in many social activities outside of college where we formed a close group of friends whom we all went to school together with and had classes together. Josh had a great idea to throw a college graduation party where we all had one last time to get together. It was a fun night that I still remember fondly. I will always carry with me some of these great memories and I am so appreciative of having him as a friend. May you rest in peace my friend!
