June passed away on Monday, October 10, 2011, at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo, surrounded by her loving family.

June was born on June 24, 1930, the daughter of Waino and Pearl (Murso) Pesola in Butte, MT. She grew up in the Wolf Lake / Frazee area in Minnesota where she graduated from high school. June was united in marriage to Ralph Kennedy and to this union 10 children were born. They made their home in the Frazee and Valley City, ND area where they raised their children. June worked for many years, while raising her family, at Foss Drug in Valley City, where she was the kitchen manager. June was united in marriage to Anton "Tony" Eckert on August 29, 1981 in Valley City. They made their home in Fargo. Tony died on November 16, 2010.

June was active in the VFW Auxiliary. She loved spending days visiting with her many dear friends in Valley City, Fargo and surrounding areas. June was very active in her children lives and extremely active with her wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren. June was a very determined, hard working woman, who loved all of her family dearly. She took great pride in making sure of all of her children received a proper education, graduating from high school.

June is survived by her children, Ronald Kennedy of Dallas, TX; Roger Kennedy of Fargo; David (Dawn) Kennedy of Buffalo, WY; Neil (Judy) Kennedy of Fargo; Steve (Debbie) Kennedy of Fertile, MN; Carol (Roger) Dean of Minot, ND; Susan (Jerry) Pederson of San Bernadino, CA Jean (David) Schaefer of Crosby, MN; and  Paul (Tina) Kennedy of Phoenix, AZ; and Tony's children,  Roger (Barbara) Eckert of Fargo; Debbie (Mark) Mosolf of Bismarck, ND; Toni Marie (Gary) Riveland of Bismarck; Robert (Candy) Eckert of Bismarck; Carla (Rick) Rasmussen of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Traci (Mark) Geohring of Janesville, WI. Also surviving are her very special grandchildren and many great grandchildren; and her sister, Laverne Letofskoy of Denver, CO.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; her parents; her son, Michael Kennedy; and her step father, Theodore Luoma.

    June was a special friend to us – we had so many good times at Vagabond Village all the years she and Tony were there. We will never forget her chicken chow mien and how she always made us feel special!

  2. Longmont COI was very fond of June. In the years that I lived in Fargo we had many of good talks and fun times. She was a great communicator and always made me feel better if I was down and many times of good laughter as well. I will continue to miss her. My heart and prayers go out to her family.

    I am glad to have known Grandma June. I realize that you have lost a special very person.

    No matter how old we are, losing a someone special like Grandma June, is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know. But her goodness, her caring and her wisdom will live on, like a legacy of love that will ALWAYS be with you.

    She is a very special lady, and I have always loved her dearly and am saddened my her loss. Though there no words to ease your pain, remember that she is now in heaven, in Gods loving arms where she is now at peace. Please accept my condolences.
