Karen Wainscott

Karen LaRae Wainscott (Anderson) died in a fatal car crash on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 near Mentor, MN.

Karen was born in Moorhead, MN to Clayton “Bud” and Bette Anderson. She graduated from Moorhead High School and went on to marry James Wainscott in August of 1974.

Growing up she babysat for many of the neighbors and loved to be at the lake. Karen was actively involved with Camp Emmaus - her favorite thing to do at camp was kayaking and taking long trips down the river. Karen was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead and attended that church as a child. Karen started off working for Meritcare in the records department and continued on with different jobs throughout the years. She loved having new experiences and meeting people. She was a hard worker. In most recent years, Karen worked at the Fargo Senior Commission where she served dinners to the senior citizens and made an abundance of friends. She loved to attend dances in the Fargo-Moorhead area and did that as often as she could. Karen was a very special woman and had a huge impact on everyone - she touched the lives of many people. She always had a giant grin on her face and her laughter was contagious. Helping people was her goal in life and she took great pride in that. Whether it be delivering Avon or cheering on the Vikings. Karen was all about family - her children were the most important people in her life along with the rest of her family. She was always organizing family events and making sure everyone stayed close. Karen recently lived with her special friend, Dan Baker, out in the country where she enjoyed relaxing outside, watching the deer go by, and taking in all that mother-nature had to offer.

Karen was preceded in death by her late husband, James Wainscott; her grandmother, Olga Gettel; and many other dear relatives. She is survived by her parents, Clayton "Bud" and Bette Anderson of Moorhead; her son, Troy Wainscott of Fargo; her daughter, Lisa Wainscott (Eric Gault) of Fargo; her brothers, Terry Anderson of Fargo and Rick (Jodi) Anderson of Glyndon, MN; Also surviving are her special friend, Dan Baker of Glyndon;  and his daughters, Trisha Baker of Fargo; and Katie (Bryan) Salma of Wisconsin; two  nieces and one nephew; along with five great nephews and a great niece.

There are no words to express my sympathy to you all for the loss of cousin Karen. 14. Moorhead MN
I am sorry to hear about your loss of Karen.

I wanted you to know that Karen babysit us when we were kids. I remember that if we didn’t get along she would make us hold hands and sit in the same chair until our parents came home. I also remember all the crafts that we did during the holidays.

It was great having her around the corner from us when we were growing up.

  15. Carlton MN
    For all of Karen’s Family,

I am sorry to hear of the sudden loss of Karen. Words can not express the sorrow that I feel for the loss of such a wonderful woman. I met Karen a year or so ago when she was working for my brother Ryan at Minnesota
Health Systems for Filter Queen. She was easy to talk to & fun to be around. In times like these it’s so hard to say things happen for a reason. Life isn’t fair when things like this happen but God has a plan for all of us & chooses when it’s time to go. Hope that you all find comfort in the memories & life lessons Karen gave you. She’s a true angel now on her way to find erternal rest. God Bless all of you during this time.

  16. Blaine State (US Residents)*I grew up around the corner and was in Karen’s brother Rick’s class. I’m so sorry for the loss of Karen. It was great seeing her at our neighborhood picnic last summer and I noted that she still shared her infectious laughter . She will be missed.

I’m sorry that I will not be able to attend her memorial in person, but I will say a prayer for Karen and will be there in spirit.

    Peace be with you,
    Bruce Wenner
