Kathryn Roehrich, age 89, died peacefully on Saturday, August 14th, at her grand daughter Tracey's home in Fargo, surrounded by her family under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Kathryn, the oldest of 12 children, was born on December 1, 1920 to Leo and Anna Marie Kuntz, on her parent's farm across from St. Michael's Church, rural Linton, ND where she grew up and attended school.  She and Leopold "Shorty" Roehrich married on July 7, 1942 at St. Michael's Catholic church.  Shortly after their marriage they moved to Fargo, where they welcomed their daughter, Beverly, and their son, Leonard.  Shorty died on September 24th, 1972.

In the 1950s Kathryn managed the coffee shop at Sears.  She was also the assistant manager at Herbst Cafeteria for a time.  In 1961 Kathryn became the manager of the newly renovated deLendrecie's Coffee Shop downtown.  When deLendrecies relocated to west Acres she continued as an associate in the home area, later moving to the  Lingerie department. She retired in 1990.

Kathryn was a very active 45 year member of the Fargo Eagles Auxiliary.  She was a proud member of their Women's Drill Team, participating in many winning competitions.  She was honored with the Mrs. Eagle Award in 1995.  Kathryn was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Moorhead.  She enjoyed volunteering at the VA Hospital  as well as assisting with bingo and other activities at several Fargo nursing Homes. Kathryn was a champion senior bowler. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery and especially cooking Sunday dinner for her family.  She enjoyed traveling with Bev and spending time with Len on his pontoon at the lakes.  The joy of her life was being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kathryn is survived by her children; Beverly (Earl) Wenthin, Freeland, WA.  Leonard (Donna) Roehrich, Fargo;  Grandchildren Barry (Melba) Wenthin, Fargo.  Tracey Wenthin, Fargo; Kerry (Susan) Wenthin, Woodbury, MN;  Kimberly (Daniel) Browdie, Golden Valley, MN.  A step-grand daughter, Tami (Tim) Hertel, Fargo.  Great-grandchildren, Brandi and Michael Lessard; Dylan and Chase Browdie; Colin and Connor Wenthin; Step-great-grandchildren, Summer Olsen and Jared Hertel. Kathryn's family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Villa Maria for their faithful and loving care the past three years. Her nurses and aides were like family to Mom. A special thanks to Hospice of the Red River Valley for their support during her final journey.  Susan, Randy, Tammy and Liz were wonderful with Mom these last 6 months  The family suggests that in lieu of flowers  memorials go to Hospice of the Red River Valley
