Katie (Katrina) Vogel

Katie (Katrina) Vogel, 94, formerly of Mesa, AZ and Napoleon, ND, passed away at Bethany Homes in Fargo, ND on Saturday, July 26, 2006. Katie was born on August 8, 1911 to Helen and Joseph Bitz, Strasburg, ND. She was united in marriage to Rudolph Vogel on June 19, 1936. They lived their entire married lives in the Dakotas and Minnesota. After Rudy passed away in September of 1981, Katie lived with her daughters in various states. Her last residence was Mesa, AZ before she came to Bethany Homes in February of 2006. Katie always enjoyed her gardens, flowers and houseplants, a good cup of coffee, a good shrimp dinner, and Bob Barker on ?The Price Is Right.? She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph; sons, Paul and John; parents; five brothers and two sisters. Katie is survived by six daughters and one son: Caroline Smith (Stanley), Coeur D? Alene, ID; George Vogel, Bowman, ND; Barbara Pagel, Wayzata, MN; Helen Thomas (Jerry), Littleton, CO; Kathrine Kargel, Mesa, Az; Elizabeth Leach (Jim), also Mesa, Az; and Rose Hoefs, Fargo, ND. She also leaves fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Schwartzenberger, Jacksonville, FL, and Agnes Reller of Ogema, MN, and a large extended family. Katie?s life was especially celebrated at an early 95th birthday party on June 25th of this year, preceeded by visits from grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and her sister Agnes. Memorial Funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Thursday, August 3, 2006 at St. Philip?s Neri Church in Napoleon, ND with Fr. Al Bitz officiating. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
