Kenneth Grossman

May 21, 1950 - January 18, 2011

Ken Grossman, 60, Wheatland, ND died unexpectedly at his home with his wife and grandson by his side.

Ken was born May 21, 1950 in Harvey, ND to Paul and Veronica Grossman.  He grew up in the Fargo-West Fargo area and earned his GED from West Fargo High School.  Ken entered the Army in 1969 and served his country in the Vietnam War where he was honored with the Silver Star, Purple Heart, and Bronze Medal.

Ken married his high school sweetheart, Eileen, on October 24, 1970 in West Fargo.  They recently celebrated their 40th anniversary.  They spent the last 28 years living in the Wheatland, ND area where he could raise horses and bow hunt in his backyard.

Ken was a gifted musician and could play any instrument that was set in front of him.  He played in area bands from the time he was a teenager.  He worked 20 years for the Scott Moeller Co until his love of horses and the people who owned them got him pulling his tack trailer to rodeos and selling saddles and tack.  His interest in finding a good bargain got him into the auctioneering business.  He was also working part-time as a security guard.

Ken was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Casselton, ND.

Ken cherished the time he spent with his wife, kids and grandchildren and always looked forward to big family get togethers.  They were planning a family trip to Disney World.  Anyone who came to know Ken should know that he held a special place in his heart for you.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen; son, Ken (Roxanne) Grossman, Jr, Walcott, ND; daughter, Heather (Kendall) Struxness, West Fargo, ND; grandsons, Steven Grossman (his best buddy), Wheatland, ND, Jake and Jordan Grossman, Enderlin, ND, Riley Struxness, West Fargo, ND, Jaxson Grossman, Walcott, ND; granddaughter, Joci Struxness, West Fargo, ND; sisters, Martha (Delbert), Pauline Knudson all from Fargo, ND, Violet (Richard) Erickson, Forest Lake, MN; brothers, Nick Grossman, West Fargo, ND, Ervin (Annette) Grossman, Horace, ND; special sister-in-law, Patsy (Greg) Anderson, Verona, WI; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Eileen and family, I was very saddened to hear of Ken’s unexpected passing. Every time I’d go down 94 by the Wheatland exit, I’d think that I should swing in there and see him. Of course, I never did. One always expects that there’ll be time to do that “later”. I always enjoyed my time with him. He was a great guy. I hope that your good memories of him will help with this terrible loss. We will keep you all in our prayers. May you find peace. Chuck

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ken’s Family- he was such a wonderful man! He will truly be greatly missed. Our daughters used to just love browsing through his tack at the rodeos- both of them got their very first barrel saddles from him! We just adored his fun and positive personality every time we seen him. The rodeos will not be the same without him, but truly an angel will be looking over us all! God bless your family. Ken, we will miss you! With love and prayers, the Bob Schwartz Family. Bob, Sandi, Becky and Dani.

moorhead minnesotaI am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Ken at south high school until I left the co. last march. Ken and I made a good team and he was one of the best people you could ever know. We both were in vietnam the same year except he was army and I was airforce. I had him make me a belt with my vietnam insignas on it in which I picked up one sunny day in may. I will always think of Ken when I wear it in honor of him. I had no idea of such a war hero he was it brings much sorrow of his passing after all we were a band of brothers he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In deepest sympathy. Mel fredricksen.
