Kenneth A. Leith, age 89, Fargo, died Monday, June 7, 2004, in Innovis Hospital, Fargo, ND. Kenneth Arthur Leith was born February 15, 1915, at Lawton, North Dakota, the son of Allan and Maude (Poissant) Leith. He was educated at the Newbre Township school. He served in the Civil Conservation Corps in 1935-36, working at Casselton, ND, and Hinckley, ND. He married Mary Connelly on June 28, 1937, and they farmed and raised their children at Lakota, ND. From 1957-61, they lived in Minot, ND, and returned to Lakota where they lived until 1981 when they retired and moved to Fargo, ND. He served on the Lakota School Board for nine years. He and his family were members of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Lakota where he also served as a Parish Trustee for a number of years. He was an honorary chapter farmer of the Future Farmers of America. In 2002, he and Mary received the Excellence in Parenting Award by the North Dakota Parents? Day Council. He lived for his beloved wife, Mary, children, and grandchildren. He loved the prairies of North Dakota and was a man of great faith. In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his children, Dennis, Minot, ND, Dale (Valerie), Owatonna, MN, Mary Beth Leith, Grand Forks, ND, Judy (Lance) Sateren, Bismarck, ND, Rev. James Leith, Fargo, Ann Pecka, Fargo, and David (Betty), Stanley, ND; 18 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Schwab, Mankato, MN. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Mary Louise (Anderson) Leith; great grandson, Brent Allen Leith; three brothers, Donald, Marvin and Orval; and two sisters, Pearl Strand and Opal Rainsberry. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Fargo-Moorhead YWCA Shelter or Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 12 noon in Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. in Holy Cross Catholic Church, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held Thursday in the church one hour prior to services.
