  1. So sorry for your loss! Thinking of you as you remember the love and life of your brother, Kevin.

  2. Tribute To Kevin Tegtmeier:

I wish to thank KEVIN posthumously for saving me from serious injury or death.
It was probably in the spring of 1968 or 1969 that some of us Kindred Vikings were taking a break from our track & field practices and decided to visit Kevin’s family’s farm to see the “Hot Rod” Kevin had built.
It was a frame wheels and chassis with a bench seat and stirring wheel as I recall. He took me for a speedy ride down the gravel road and I was impressed.
After our ride it was back in Kevin’s machine shop that we were having trouble getting it started again that I decided it would be a good idea to sit at the wheel and pump the gas pedal while Kevin poured gas directly into the carburetor.
I think we were having some luck until the 426 Hemmi engine decided to backfire.
That’s when I realized that I had burning gasoline on my left pants leg. As I hopped up and stood there wondering what to do – it was Kevin who was wearing coveralls and gloves who knelt down on floor and gave me a place between his knees to put my burning left ankle for him to snuff out the flame. I came out of it with a small burn on the inside of my left leg which my parents never found out about. But I would hate to think of what my outcome may have been if not for the fast thinking and COURAGE of Kevin Tegtmeier. Thanks a million buddy!!!

  3. Semper Fi, Gunny! Your ‘Nam vet buddies and I will miss you. Valhalla is reserved for men like you.

  4. Hi! My name is Karen (Zerr was my maiden name) and Kevin was friends with my dad Dennis for many, many years and just 2 short memories I would like to share.
    – Kevin was staying with us on our farm in Fargo when I was about 3 and he loved to eat oatmeal for breakfast. Well at 3 I thought he was cute (giggle, giggle) and just the best! So I told my mom one morning I wanted oatmeal, she said no because you don’t like it, I told her yes I do and I will eat it…..well I didn’t. I hid it under my bed but wanted to show Kevin that I liked it just like him. So next day or few after I asked my mom for oatmeal again and she said the same thing and I told her I ate it the last time but I don’t think she believed me. Well I got oatmeal again and this time same thing, under my bed it went but mom found it 2 weeks later. Needless to say mom and Kevin figured out I didn’t like oatmeal.

    – I also remember my dad was staying with Kevin and I was turning 6 and when I went to his place I got a chocolate cabbage patch kid cake, she had blonde hair and I was so excited. They were listening to music and at that time I heard “Gloria” for the first time and to this day I play it on juke boxes when I’m out and it reminds me of being with my dad and Kevin and singing it the best I could at age 6. Ha ha.

Rest In Peace my oatmeal friend(he he)

  5. Sending our condolences. He was a really nice, helpful neighbor to my son and me. Always had a smile and knew how to cheer me up!
