Kirby Duane McLaren, 64, Fargo passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Fargo. Kirby was born on February 28, 1952 to Duane “Dewey” McLaren and Donna (Geswein) McLaren. Kirby grew up in Fargo and attended schools. He learned how to install carpet as a teenager helping his Uncle. In 1969, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines. Kirby served in the Marines until March, 1972. He was stationed in Vietnam. He returned to Fargo where he was a carpet installer until going to work for BNSF Railroad as an Engineer, retiring in 2001. He continued to make his home in Fargo. Kirby was a proud U.S. Marine. He was exposed to agent orange while on tour in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his Father, Dewey in 2014. He is survived by his mother, Donna, Fargo, brother, Guy McLaren, Fargo, and sister, Kim (Tim) Weaver, Fargo. Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with visitation starting at 1:00 P.M. Burial: Mapleton Cemetery, Mapleton, ND.

  4. Kirby was a wonderful guy and a barrel of laughs. Carpet layer, tile layer, computer repairman, locomotive engineer; unsurpassed in ability in all fields and happy to tell you so. RIP Kirby.

  7. Sorry to hear the passing of Kirby. I remember coming back here one year with his cousin, and we took a motorcycle ride to the lakes. And his family took us out water skiing. That was a great summertime. R.I.P. Kirby

    Was my brother’s oldest child. Sorry I live so far away, but my prays for Kirby are in my heart. The end of all your suffering? Will miss you Kirby!! I served in the US Air Force, know he will be missed. He gave me my first computer, that enabled me to start using the internet. I know Art and Walter will miss him!! Won’t be able to make it back to Fargo.
