kristie swanson

Kristie Jo Swanson was born on September 27, 1975 at St Luke's Hospital in Fargo, the daughter of Dave and Tina (Hager) Swanson. Kristie passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 15, 2014, at the age of 38 years young.

Kristie graduated from Fargo South High in 1994, and  then attended DL Tech and attained a degree as an LPN.   Kristie worked in the hospitality industry for many years in Fargo, where she met countless people and many lifelong friends.

She had a dynamic personality and an infectious smile.  Most of all she had a heart of gold and was the kindest, most giving person anyone could ever meet.

She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time at the family farm, in Michigan, ND.

Kristie is survived by her mother, Tina Swanson; her sister, Tammy (Wes) VanderBush; her beloved niece, Ashley VanderBush; and nephew Nick VanderBush; the love of her life, Mike Rehder, and his son, Coleman. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, and her grandma, Anna Hager.

She was always the first person to see you when you came in for your shift with that smile that would brighten any room. Through out the years we would lose touch and then see each other somewhere and pick right back up talking. She was always someone to make you smile no matter what and she will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Kristie we will miss you.

Please know that Matt was waiting to take Kristie’s hand. He will help her find peace and clarity, things she couldn’t seem to find here on earth. I bet her big beautiful eyes are just sparkling!

Even though she is no longer with us here in the physical sense, it warms my heart to know how happy she must be!

  20. Met you in Sturgis in 1998. Such beautiful girl, thought about you often over the years. Only recently learned of your passing. Sleep well… Jim from Boston

  21. Kristie was truly one of a kind! I chose Sunmart as my first job on her recommendation and as much as I enjoyed working with everyone there, seeing her smile from the service counter as you walked into the store was the true highlight. I’m sure she’s been dearly missed since she was prematurely taken years ago, but so many of us look forward to seeing her again in an even better World!
