Larry passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015 at his home in Hillsboro at the age of 65. Larry Mayo Simonson was born February 9, 1950 in Detroit Lakes, MN, the son of Maynard and Florence Simonson. Larry worked at Western Potato in Grand Forks in 1976 before starting Simonson Construction in 1981 in Grandin, ND. He and his wife made their home in Grandin and they had three wonderful kids. They moved to Hillsboro where he purchased the A & R Bar and continued with construction work as well. Larry loved playing cards, fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. Larry is survived by his sons – Darrel Simonson, Keith (Margo) Simonson, Randy Simonson; his grandchildren - Keith Jr., Jack, Wyatt; his wife, Betty Simonson; his brother, Manley Simonson and his sister, Judy Nyberg. He was preceded in death in death by his parents, his sisters, Elenora and Shirley, and his brother, Jerry. Funeral Services will be held 1 PM Tuesday at St John Lutheran church in Hillsboro ND. Visitation will be visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be held in the Grandin Community Cemetery in Grandin. A Celebration of Life will be held following the burial ceremony at the A&R Bar in Hillsboro.
