Laurel (Detwiller) Wayne passed away on June 16, 2017 in Fargo at the Sanford Palliative Care facility from complications due to Lupus. She passed away with her family around her. Laurie was born November 17, 1952 in San Francisco, CA and returned to Minnesota with her parents upon her father's discharge from the army. She lived in Moorhead with her last childhood years on Wall Street with their large garden and horses. Laurie graduated from St. Francis de Sales Catholic grade school and transferred to Moorhead High School where she graduated in 1970. She continued her education at the Moorhead Technical College receiving a diploma from the Secretarial program. Laurie was married to Richard Wayne in 1973 and was later blessed with two children, Stacy (Wayne) Jordet and Eric Wayne. During her life the kids were always foremost on her mind but she did find time and enjoy traveling having been to all fifty States and a number of foreign countries. When home, she liked to tend to her flowering plants and go on horse riding trips with her sisters, especially during the fall color season. She seldom missed on opportunity to gather with the extended family during holidays or for no reason at all. Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Mary (Ronning) Detwiller and Patrick Detwiller. She is survived by her husband, Richard Wayne, her children, Stacy (Ryan) Jordet and Eric (Beth) Wayne and four grandchildren, James and Hailey Jordet and Aiden and Vienna Wayne, all of Fargo, siblings Linda (Harry) Bonny of Grand Rapids, MN, Steve (Sue) Detwiller of North Bend, WA, Lois Suedbeck of Hugo, MN, LaVonne (Bob) Lyberg of West Fargo, Louise (Bruce) Boedekker of Hillsboro, ND and Mike (Carla) Detwiller of Bedford, TX along with numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I own Kinder Kloset and Laurie always brought in things for her kids and their friends. She was the sweetest lady and the stuff was always pristine. We always asked if she wanted a job:-). I was so sad to see she passed away. We will miss her visits. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

  2. We are so sorry for your loss! My husband is Richard’s brother, Steve. Laurie was our sister-in-law. In addition to her many relatives in the Fargo-Moorhead area, she was very special to her mother-in-law, Bernice, brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Susan Wayne, and niece and nephew, Robert and Nikki. We enjoyed so many holidays together in Benson, MN., shopping, playing Skippo, and eating at little cafes with extended family! It was a little family, but we had so much fun together! I will always remember her contagious laugh!💕 She was a brave and strong lady!

  3. Our deepest sympathy during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
    Love,

  4. I met Laurie thru Linda while working at the Coalition in Fargo. Always a smile and great attitude even when the lupus was challenging her and her health. What a great lady and am so glad I was able to meet her years ago even if we did not keep in touch. Thinking of her now with thoughts and prayers to ALL her family. LaVerne Czichotzki
