Laurie Alley

Nov. 26th 1948 – Aug. 2nd 2019 On Friday August 2nd, at Elim Care Nursing home, Laurie was released from her battle with fast progressing Cancer. She was under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. It was a true blessing. Laurie’s life can be summed up as brave, stubborn, and strong willed. She said she was put on this earth to be a mom and a Gramma, but really her grandchildren were her life. She faced many hard knocks in life, but got through them wiser and stronger thanks to family and friends. Laurie moved around a lot in her life, but nothing was as meaningful to her as the wonderful summers at Rush Lake. This was definitely her happiest of times. And if you ever went to bingo with her, you would know that bingo was a very close second. Laurie is survived by her children: Cari Cardiff, Monticello, MN, Chad Cardiff, Rochester, MN, Cristin Weekly, Robbinsdale, MN, Jeff Alley (Heather), Fargo, ND, her grandchildren: Carolyn, Gavin, Gabe, Claire, Lexi, Josh, Preston, Ethan and Rhiannon, her sisters: Barb (Bruce) Hanson, Fargo, ND, and Marian (Dr. Tom) Stevens, Waunakee, WI, Lonny Squire, her dearest friend of over 50 years, “Well my friend, I almost made it to Virginia”, Julie Kippen, her close friend and bingo buddy, as well as many other friends. Per Laurie’s request there will be no services, instead she wants her ashes scattered privately at a later date by her children, grandchildren, close friends, and family. A special thank you to Elim Care and Hospice of the Red River Valley, especially her favorite nurse Natalie, for taking such great care of Laurie.
