Lillian Gauderman

lillian gauderman
Lillian Gauderman, Fargo, ND, died February 17, 2020. Lillian was born on December 14, 1919 in Luverne, ND, the daughter of Thomas & Theodora(Egge) Vigesaa. Lillian married Ed Gauderman on January 8, 1944, in Jamestown, ND. They farmed in the Kensal area until their retirement in 1977. They resided in Jamestown, ND and Oshkosh, WI for some of their retirement years. She has resided in Fargo since 1998. Lillian learned early of the importance of God in her life; she committed her life to God in 1934 and remained true to that promise. Lillian and Ed enjoyed the privilege of having fellowship meetings in their home for over 50 years. A highlight of their retirement years was having the opportunity of taking our ministers to special meetings and conventions in both US and Canada. Their home was always open and welcoming to family, friends and our ministers. Each visit was very special to them. Lillian and Ed were advocates for the less privileged. They looked for opportunities to help anyone in need and considered it a privilege. Lillian spoke often in her later days of all the people in their lifetime that they had the opportunity of showing love and kindness. It was very dear to her heart. Lillian is survived by four children: James(Audrey) Grafton, ND, Jerry(Vonnie) Shell Lake, WI, Marianne(Hartley) Daku, White City, SK, and Diana(James) Lemmer, Oshkosh, WI; 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death her husband; parents; five brothers and four sisters. Our family would like to express our appreciation to all who showed so much love and care to mom. Thanks to Red River Valley Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion in her last days.

Guestbook

  1. I loved both of your parents so much, and I really admire Lillian’s fortitude in her widowhood. We can hardly hope to live up to the toughness and courage of that generation, but it does inspire me to more gratitude and I hope, less selfishness. I will be thinking of you all as you take your leave of her, and enter into this strange state of orphanhood! (I am still trying to get used to it) Much love and God’s special comfort to you all!

  2. I considered her a special friend…my sincere sympathy to all of you. I’d love to be there in person but sending my love and care,
    Edith

  3. Lillian was.so kind and gentle. She faced life’s difficulties with a cheerful perspective..She had a hymn in her heart and encouraged others just by her example. Extending my condolences to the family in the loss of this dear lady.

  4. I was blessed to be able to see Lillian every other week on Wednesday’s when I brought her Meals on Wheels over the past 8 years. She was a very special lady who always made my day when I got to her door. Always concerned about if I was dressed warm enough in the winter when I was delivering meals. She was always very gracious and appreciative. I was blessed to be able to see her on her 99th birthday as I brought her a birthday cupcake. I stopped by on her 100th birthday with flowers and a week later…she knew they came from me. My prayers and thought are with Lillian’s family! She was one of a kind!!

  5. Lillian was a special friend, inspiration and example to all of us. She loved to visit about the gospel coming to her parents and family. She’d share accounts of the Vigesaas and Overbys attending the same gospel meetings with young families. That fellowship was a rich blessing and encouragement to them in those hard times. Such a great sense of humor, too….most every time we’d visit and have coffee with her she would say, “I haven’t had this much fun since Ma shot the collector!” We always went away feeling uplifted!

  6. I had the fun and honor to deliver Meals On Wheels to Lillian for the past five or more years, not sure when she started getting meals. She was always so friendly and happy when ever I got there with her meals. She always had a smile on her face and was so happy, that she always made my day. She also talked so great about her family, her love for her family and how she treated everyone in this world. She will be greatly missed, but I am sure that God is very happy to include her into his family.

  7. Our family has many wonderful memories of times spent with the Gauderman family. Ed and Lillian were very special and close friends to our Mom and Dad for more years then I know. So sorry for your loss.

  8. I’m so sorry for your loss. Moms are such a special gift from God. I hope your memories will help make this time of sadness a little more bearable. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. Sending love and hugs to you.
