Lloyd Stangeland, age 88, of Audubon MN, died Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Oak Crossing.
Lloyd was born in Cooperstown, ND on June 21, 1932, the son of Trygve and Karen (Volstad) Stangeland. He attended grade school at Juanita Public School. After gradating from Glenfield High School, he went to school to teach in a one room schoolhouse. He enlisted in the Navy and spent time in Okinawa, Japan. In 1956 he attended North Dakota Agricultural College. He spent his work career at Hebron Brick and Dakota Brick. He married Carol Finch at St Mary’s Cathedral on April 26, 1957.
Lloyd belonged to the FM Curling Club and scored an 8-ender. He had memberships in the Eagles and the American Legion in Fargo, ND. He held offices in the Minnesota Square Dancing Federation. Lloyd greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and living on Big Cormorant Lake. Lloyd was active, hardworking, and always engaged in many hobbies. His favorites included snowmobiling, restoring antique cars in which he loved giving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren rides, woodworking, and clearing wooded areas on family lake properties. Lloyd and Carol spent 20-years wintering in Mesa, AZ and were very involved in Park Place.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Carol of 64 years, his daughters, Reneece (Jeff) Strand, Julie Volk, Lynn (Marty) Rud, Jim (Gail) Stangeland; 9 grandchildren, Kathy (Jon), Aaron (Lauren), Nina, Kari, Mariah, Shannon (Braydon), Cassandra, Amanda (Andy), Kayla; 7 great-grandchildren, Mason, Kellan, Jersey, Laiklyn, Jada, Dean, and Addison. He is also survived by a sister, June McDaniel and a brother Harold (Karen) Stangeland.
