Loran J. Oye, age 64, of Fargo, ND, died Friday, June 6, 2008 in his home.
Loran was born in Fargo on April 20, 1944 to Jacob and Hazel (Helgeson) Oye. As a young man, he was employed by the City of Fargo?s Sanitation Department. Following his work for the city, he worked for his brother, Hubert, driving truck and working construction. Loran also worked for Northern Improvement. He was self-employed hauling gravel and snow from 1989 until his retirement in 2006. Loran passed the time playing guitar, shooting pool and conversing with other truck drivers via CB radio. Throughout his life, Loran became an excellent mechanic and was always looking for a bargain. Driving his truck and spending time at home with his family were two things he loved most.
Loran is survived by the love of his life, Kathy Johnson; sons, Brian (Diane) Oye, Frontier, ND, and Mark Oye; step-son, Andy Johnson; brothers, Keith (Jeannine) Berlin, Valley City, ND, Ronald Oye, Fargo; grandchildren, Tera, Justin, Tanner and Keely Oye.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Hazel; brothers, Laverne, Hubert, Darrell, Robert Oye and Kenneth Berlin.
Visitation: Monday 7-9 pm at Boulger Funeral Home Fargo, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Funeral: Tuesday 11:00 am at Golden Ridge Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
